The Road Without TurningJason Slater Brown, Producer, was born and raised in Manhattan with several years spent in London during his childhood. He has been involved with media production since 1978 beginning with Sports Illustrated Magazine, People Magazine and later in film and television: EUE Screengems NYC, Douglas Trumbull’s Berkshire Motion Picture and Berkshire Ridefilm and the film studio Mass Illusion as well as numerous commercial production studios in New York. He is a composer and musician, playing jazz piano and in his youthful days augmented his income appearing in various restaurants and clubs. Jason has a life-long love of audio beginning with the very first reel to reel his father gave him as a boy. His grandparents, William Slater Brown and Susan Jenkins Brown were part of the literary world of Paris, New York and Provincetown in the 30’s and 40’s and inspired him in his continuing interest of turning classical literature and psychology into audio. Jason started Berkshire Media Artists five years ago with his wife Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson Brown.

Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson Brown, publisher, was born and raised on the beautiful and lately besieged Gulf Coast of Alabama. She began her career in the early ‘70’s in regional theatre as an actress, playwright and producer. Arriving in New York City in 1976 she continued working in off Broadway Theatre and Wall Street for the investment firm Kidder Peabody.

Moving to the Massachusetts Berkshires in 1986 she pursued an MA in Classical Greek Theatre and Myth. At the same time she traveled across the United States and Europe to record Native American Elders on location and at gatherings. As part of that journey she produced All My Relations aired on National Public Radio and Walk Softly on the Earth. Nicky has written scripts for theatre, video and an interactive game for girls Secret Paths in the Forest distributed nationally by Mattel. Her play Persephone’s Cave was produced in the Berkshires and her poetry was produced as part of an innovative gallery series connecting writers and artists.

She has been published in magazines and newspapers nationally and in New England writing about mythology, Native American Elders and theatre including a profile of the actress Karen Allen. She has written articles in Gulf Coast newspapers regarding hurricanes, over development and the damage to wetlands. Nicky is currently an editor and ghostwriter for several publishing houses in New York and the Berkshires and following in the footsteps of her grandfather Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, founder of DC Comics,.
